Standard Moving Blankets is an ongoing project that makes visible and meaningful the liminal area between spaces of making and spaces of exhibition. Through sculptural and photographic processes I point towards the life of objects in the world and the human labor that activates those objects. Recycled felt moving blankets are used to wrap artworks, creating transitory sculptures that necessarily only exist in this in-between. The artworks which give them form must be unwrapped to be shown, and the blankets revert back to their material, potential form. In exhibition, the blankets are folded and stacked, existing simultaneously as material residue and sculptural potential. Over time, the blankets are used and re-used, and this history is marked by accumulative titles indicating the artists and artworks necessary to the creation of this work.
